Bug Report: Gemini 2.5 Pro does not work on AI Studio Website

Description
The Gemini 2.5 Pro model is currently failing to generate responses within the Google AI Studio Web Interface. Attempts to run prompts result in a generic “Failed to generate content” error.
This issue is isolated strictly to the AI Studio frontend. The underlying inference engine is operational, as confirmed by successful requests via the API. The issue appears to be a regression following the recent UI updates for the Gemini 3.0 rollout.
Affected Areas
Platform: Google AI Studio (Web UI)
Model: gemini-2.5-pro
Browser/Environment: All Browsers/Desktop
Scope: Confirmed across multiple distinct Google accounts.
API Endpoint is unaffected, direct calls to gemini-2.5-pro via cURL/Python (Free and Paid tiers) succeed.
Other Models in UI:
gemini-3.0-pro (Works)
gemini-2.5-flash (Works)
Steps to Reproduce
Navigate to Google AI Studio.
In the “Model” dropdown menu, select Gemini 2.5 Pro.
Enter a standard test prompt (e.g., “Test” or “Hello”).
Click Run.
Observed Behavior
The interface briefly loads (or hangs) and returns the error message:
“Failed to generate content. Please try again.”
No tokens are generated.
Expected Behavior
The model should stream or return a text response, matching the behavior of Gemini 3.0 Pro and the behavior of Gemini 2.5 Pro via the API.
Isolation Notes & Diagnosis
Since the API functions correctly while the UI fails, this indicates a client-side or middleware breakdown.
Hypothesis
The AI Studio frontend is likely sending a request payload constructed with parameters intended for the newer Gemini 3.0 architecture (e.g., “thinking” params, or context caching headers) that are incompatible with the legacy 2.5 Pro endpoint, causing the request to be rejected before inference begins.

Agreed, my interface logged me out, and is asking for a key in the chat box now. Even Gemini 3 recommended the other day I continue working on my project with 2.5 Pro, alas today currently can’t get it to open. Is there a deprecation date announced as yet, note this is the first comment and haven’t checked in for sometime unsure where all is at.

I also met this issue. I’m worried this is a sign that 2.5 will be taken down. Can the 2.5pro be retained, just like the flash? 2.5 pro has irreplaceable advantages over 3.0 in story creation
