Subject: Feature Request: Secure GitHub Repository Import & Interactive Chat-to-Code Workflow in Google AI Studio Apps builder
Hello Google AI Developers Community,
I have been exploring Google AI Studio and its integration capabilities. While pushing code to GitHub is helpful, the risk of accidental mistakes—such as unintentionally modifying or deleting an app or branch during the process—is a valid concern for developers handling critical projects.
It would be an incredible addition if Google AI Studio introduced a secure, native “Import Repository” feature. Instead of just pushing code, users should be able to:
- Import existing personal/private GitHub repositories directly into the AI Studio environment.
- Interact with the repository contextually using Gemini models within a dedicated chat interface.
- Collaborate and iterate continuously by chatting with the model to refix, refactor, or build features directly on top of that imported repository safely before final deployment.
This dual-way workflow (Import → Interactive Chat & Code → Secure Push) would provide a massive safety net and elevate the developer experience to a whole new level.
What are your thoughts on this? Are there any workarounds or upcoming roadmaps covering this kind of deep repository interaction?
Regards,
