Feature Request: Persistent Developer Scratchpad Panel in AI Studio

TITLE: Feature Request: Persistent Developer Scratchpad Panel in AI Studio

PROBLEM STATEMENT:
During complex multi-turn development and architecture sessions, engineers frequently have fragmented thoughts, temporary shell outputs, and parameter notes that are not yet ready to be dispatched as active prompts. The current single-input box forces developers to constantly Alt-Tab away to external text editors (Notepad, Kate, VS Code) to avoid losing prompt drafts, introducing unnecessary workflow friction and taking developers out of the AI Studio environment.

PROPOSED SOLUTION:
Add a collapsible, persistent “Scratchpad / Idea Staging” drawer (e.g., on the left or bottom rail):

  1. Independent Workspace: A lightweight markdown/text staging area that does not clear when prompts are submitted or sessions change.
  2. Local Storage Persistence: Automatically cache scratchpad contents in browser localStorage across page reloads.
  3. One-Click Prompt Insertion: An “Insert into Active Prompt” action button on highlighted text or note blocks.

USER & RETENTION IMPACT:

  • Eliminates context-switching and window-swapping for technical builders.
  • Significantly increases session duration and developer focus inside Google AI Studio.
  • Establishes a unique workflow advantage over OpenAI Playground and Anthropic Console, neither of which offers native idea-staging drawers.
