Feature request: editor group should hug side panels
In Antigravity IDE, the editor group sits with extra horizontal padding/gutters between the editor canvas and the side panels (agent rail on the left, activity bar / sidebar on the right). The editor should be flush with those panels: no empty side padding, so the buffer hugs the chrome.
Why
With both a left agent rail and a right activity bar, the extra gutters waste horizontal space for code. Centered-layout style margins and the minimap strip make the editor feel inset instead of using the full width between the panels.
Proposed solution
- Add a layout option so the editor group is flush with adjacent side panels (zero extra left/right padding on the editor container).
- Keep the glyph/breakpoint margin and line numbers; only remove the empty gutters outside the editor.
- Optionally: a setting to hide the minimap or treat it as overlay so the buffer can extend to the panel edge.
- Double-clicking the editor/panel sash should not be required to get a flush layout; it should be the default or a one-click setting.
Alternatives already tried
- VS Code centered layout toggle: not exposed as a stable setting, and toggling it does not reliably remove Antigravity’s extra chrome padding.
- Extension CSS/sash hooks: workbench sashes and editor-container padding are not available to extensions.
- Hiding the minimap only: helps the right edge, not the left gutter next to the agent rail.
Environment
- OS: Windows 11
- App: Antigravity IDE (VS Code fork)
- Workspace example:
A:\Google Antigravitywithfilters.jsopen workbench.sideBar.locationisright; agent rail visible on the left
