After yesterday’s global Gemini outage, I am still experiencing a strange issue with my Google AI Pro account.

The global outage has been marked as resolved, but something is still wrong.

Here is what I tested:
My Google AI Pro account:

Existing non-roleplay conversations work normally.

Existing roleplay conversations always respond with:
*“I can’t help with that because I’m just a language model and don’t have the right information or capabilities.”
*
Creating a completely new chat and writing something as simple as:
“Hello” or
“Let’s write a fictional story together.”
produces the same response:
“I can’t help with that because I’m just a language model and don’t have the right information or capabilities.”

My free Gemini account:
The exact same prompts work normally.
For example, typing “Hello” receives a normal greeting and conversation.

The exact same roleplay prompt works immediately on my free Gemini account but is rejected on my Google AI Pro account with the generic message *"I can’t help with that because I’m just a language model…

What convinces me the most is this test:
Free Gemini account
Prompt: “Let’s write a fictional story together.”
:white_check_mark: Works normally.

Google AI Pro account
The exact same prompt.
:cross_mark: Returns: “I can’t help with that because I’m just a language model and don’t have the right information or capabilities.”

Based on my testing, I currently have two possible theories:

  1. My Google AI Pro account may have become stuck in an incorrect backend state after yesterday’s outage.
  2. Some conversations or account features may still be in a corrupted state following the backend incident, even though the global outage has been marked as resolved.

It’s difficult to explain this as anything other than a technical issue affecting my AI Pro account, since the only difference between the two tests is the Google account being used.

This makes me think the issue is specific to my Google AI Pro account, or that some conversations and newly created chats were left in a corrupted state after yesterday’s backend incident.

Has anyone else experienced the same behavior after the outage?

RESOLVED

Hi

This issue has now been resolved

@tiktak are you experiencing this in AI Studio to Gemini App ?

Gemini. It’s been working perfectly since the outage earlier - I’d even say it’s performing better than before.

I use Gemini for roleplay about 90% of the time, and ever since I upgraded from AI Plus to AI Pro, the differences in the model’s writing have been very noticeable
