I am also coming from tradfi and web3, and got my hands dirty with AI since last year. Now I have built 20+ models, sold 5 of them to EU companies, and have created a personal model that is unlike any commercial model out there, if you tailor it specifically for your needs.

I had minimal background skills, basic python and solidity, but AI models themselves are so advanced these days that if you know what to ask and how they will build anything for you.

Since you are coming from tradfi and banking, I would leverage your transferable skills and industry knowledge and start building models around that, that could disrupt or enhance banking.
