I used to be able to switch models mid chat without problems. Now changing a model, the chat history is destroyed. The new model has no idea what I’ve been working on in the chat. The new model then goes and spends a huge amount of tokens reading the entire project, only to come back clueless about the chat.
You then ask it to continue working on the stuff you were doing in the chat, but it acts like it has no idea and starts doing crazy things to the project; all because everything that has been done in the chat is ignored and is not available to that new model.
It makes no sense. If this is the way of thing now, then switching models should not be an option, or it shoudl come with a huge warning. Switching a model is the same thing as starting a new chat.
This is causing harm and wasting compute and tokens.
I find it incomprehensible that a huge team of engineers overlooked this. This seems like a quiet way to force people to use AI overages.
I have a small project which was almost done . Only polishing and few small bugs remained.
I decided to finish it today , I don’t know what`s happened , but my project /code/ was completely screwed . I even noticing quality degradation on all models. I noticed similar degradation last weekend , but it was not so significant as today. except the prices. I did not changed the model , but start thinking to cancel my subscription , if this degradation continue in the same way
