Hello,
I would like to report an issue with the Build feature in Google AI Studio.
When I upload my project as a ZIP file and request modifications, the system frequently ignores the uploaded project structure and instead generates a new structure from scratch. Even when I explicitly instruct it to modify only specific files, it often recreates files, renames folders, or rewrites parts of the project that were not requested.
In many cases, the model confirms that changes were applied, but the actual project files do not reflect those modifications. This makes it very difficult to continue working on existing projects, especially medium or large ones.
It appears that the uploaded ZIP is treated as temporary context rather than as a persistent project base. This behavior significantly disrupts workflow and forces users to repeatedly re-anchor the project structure.
Could you please clarify:
-
Whether this is expected behavior
-
If there is a recommended way to ensure the ZIP project is respected as the base
-
If a fix or improvement is planned
This issue has been consistent and is affecting productivity.
