Bug: Antigravity IDE Agent Settings flashes light then forces Default Dark Modern (Appearance has no theme control)

Summary

With the main Antigravity IDE window correctly following the system light appearance, opening Antigravity IDE User Settings briefly renders in light mode, then instantly switches to dark. Settings → Appearance only shows “Verbose Agent Chat” and has no Light / Dark / System theme control.

Expected

Agent Settings should follow the workbench / OS light theme (or expose an Appearance theme control).

Actual

  1. Main IDE stays light (autoDetectColorScheme working).
  2. Opening User Settings: flash of light UI → immediately dark.
  3. Appearance has no theme picker.

Root cause (local)

Synced state in:
~/Library/Application Support/Antigravity IDE/User/globalStorage/state.vscdb

Key antigravityUnifiedStateSync.theme contained themeName: "Default Dark Modern". After mount, this overrides the initial light render.

Also related keys: userStatus, sidebarWorkspaces.

Workaround

Quit Antigravity IDE, delete those three keys from ItemTable in state.vscdb, reopen. Settings stayed light.

Ask

  1. Respect workbench/OS theme for Agent Settings, or restore Appearance Light/Dark/System.
  2. Do not apply a stale synced Dark Modern theme when the IDE is in light mode.

Steps to reproduce (Antigravity IDE, not the separate Antigravity app):

  1. On macOS (I was on 26.6.2, arm64), set the system appearance to Light, or enable window.autoDetectColorScheme so the main IDE window is light.
  2. Antigravity IDE 2.5.5. Main window stays light.
  3. Open Antigravity IDE User Settings (Appearance).
  4. The settings window flashes light, then immediately switches to dark.
  5. Settings → Appearance only shows “Verbose Agent Chat”. There is no Light / Dark / System theme control, even though the subtitle mentions visual theme.

What we found: After opening Settings, synced state overrides the initial light render.

Workbench settings (window.autoDetectColorScheme: true and preferred light/dark themes) did not stop this overlay.

Workaround that fixed it: Quit Antigravity IDE, delete those three keys from ItemTable in that state.vscdb, reopen. Settings then stayed light. I am attaching the pre-fix screenshot because the issue no longer reproduces locally after that cleanup.
