Batch Calls return a Status but no indiction of progress

I use the interactions api for batch and non batch request. Image is usually fast so non batch. While Videos take some time so I use Batch. see hmdsoftcom for more info. Would it be possible to has some sort of progress indication like some percentage. Like 55% complete. I have used other end points that provide this. I gives the user some confidence things are not stuck. If too much time passes they cancel the request. Here is the in_progress json. I don’t see an progress indicator.

Thanks for the detail! Quick clarification: the JSON in your screenshot is a background interaction (background=true), not a batch job. Background interactions don’t show a completion percentage today. Image requests usually finish within seconds and include a variable-length reasoning step, so for now status and streaming events are the most reliable signals.

One things that should help with “is it stuck?”:

  1. Stream instead of polling. Call GET /interactions/{id}?stream=true and you’ll get status and step events as they happen.

Heads-up: Batch support for the Interactions API is coming soon. It’s built for large, non-urgent workloads, with a 50% discount and a 24-hour target turnaround. Each batch reports progress as completed/total request counts, so you can see how far along a large run is. It won’t give a percentage for a single request, so for one-off jobs where a user is waiting, background + streaming is still the better fit.

In the meantime, I’ll pass the progress request along to the team, especially for video, where it makes the most sense

Thanks. That is helpful. So to clear. There are at least three ways to handle Interaction API requests.

  1. Synchronous. Wait for completion. Background=false.
  2. Asynchronous. No wait for completion. Background=true. Better for long running requests.
  3. Batch. To be Described soon. Better for expensive requests.

We support both 1 & 2. We support 2 - primarily so we can display the status. For longer running requests thats really helpful.

We will use Call GET /interactions/{id}?stream=true to get the status in the mean time.
