Antigravity deleted unrecoverable project files and accessed folders outside the granted workspace scope

Subject: Antigravity deleted unrecoverable project files and accessed folders outside the granted workspace scope

I’m reporting two issues with Antigravity that occurred during a coding session on 1st Sept 2026 working on a local project.

  1. Data loss: Antigravity deleted files from my project that I have not been able to recover. These included trade account data files that had no other backup. I was not warned before the deletion and was not given an option to confirm or undo it.

  2. Scope/access issue: When I asked whether having a separate copy of the project could still have caused backend issues, Antigravity did not answer the question directly. Instead, it began searching for backups and accessed folders on my machine outside the project directory I had explicitly granted it access to. When I asked why it was accessing files outside the authorized folder, it acknowledged doing so.

I’d like the following:

  • Confirmation of why the tool accessed directories outside the folder scope I granted, and whether this is expected/intended behavior or a bug
  • Guidance on what, if anything, can be done to recover the deleted files
  • Whether Google/Antigravity can assist with the cost of restoring the affected data - in this case, the Supabase Pro tier would allow me to recover the lost trade account records

I’m raising this here first before deciding whether further steps are necessary. I’d appreciate a substantive response addressing both issues above.
