About me and what I’m doing:
I’m a solo developer, not a company. I live in Tokyo and I built a Python script that uses gemini-2.5-flash-image to generate a small mnemonic illustration for each Japanese word. The 2.5 model has been working great, but it’s very slow and not quite there. I’d like to use the 3.1 Flash Image model because the release notes say it’s the recommended successor.
This is a personal project. I’m not building a product, not reselling images, not running a service. I’m just trying to learn Japanese faster, and I’d like to use the newer models since 2.5 is scheduled to be deprecated in October.
If allowlist access isn’t something you grant for personal use cases, I completely understand and will stick with 2.5 until it sunsets. Thanks for considering it either way.
