AI Studio Interface Feedback: Large File Attachment Blocks, No Access to Submitted Files, and Missing Prompt Timestamps

I’m not sure where the best place is to submit feedback for Google AI Studio, so I’m leaving my suggestions here:

  1. File Attachment UI
The current interface uses overly large rectangular blocks to display each attached file, which takes up excessive screen space. This layout isn’t efficient, especially compared to Claude’s interface, which provides a more compact and preview-friendly display of attachments. Over time, this becomes a usability issue that could be greatly improved with a more space-conscious design.
  2. Inaccessibility of Submitted Attachments
Once a prompt is submitted, there’s no way to access, copy, or download the attached files. This can be a major limitation, particularly for users who rely on manual version control or need to reference past submissions. In contrast, Claude allows users to view and copy the contents of previously submitted files, something AI Studio would benefit from adopting.
  3. Missing Timestamps on Prompts and Responses
Both AI Studio and Claude currently lack visible timestamps for when prompts are submitted or responses are received. For developers, having this information is often essential. There’s ample space in the UI (e.g., to the left or right of prompts) where a subtle timestamp could be added. A smart design might include relative timestamps (“5 mins ago”) for recent entries, and full datestamps (“2025.04.05 14:23:56”) for older ones, perhaps drawing inspiration from Telegram’s UI conventions.

In summary, these are relatively minor interface adjustments, but together they’d significantly improve the overall usability and user experience of AI Studio.
