Account restricted to AQ. tokens — Requesting standard AIza key restoration

Hello Google AI Developer Support Team,

I am writing to report a sudden restriction on my Google account that prevents me from generating standard Gemini API keys (AIza prefix) in Google AI Studio.

The Issue: > Every newly created API key across all projects (including brand new ones) only generates an AQ. prefix token instead of the standard AIza format.

Because local CLI tools, SDKs, and third-party tools like OpenClaw specifically look for the traditional AIza string structure, these AQ. tokens fail with authentication errors and block my developer workflow entirely.

Account Details:

  • Billing Tier: Free Tier

I have checked my history and have not violated any terms of service or accidentally exposed any previous keys. Could a support team member please review my account status and restore the ability to generate standard AIza format API keys?

We are moving away from Traffic keys (Alza) and towards a more secure Authentication Key (AQ). AI Studio will now only generate Authentication Key (AQ) keys. More information on key usage can be found in the Using Gemini API keys documentation.
