We are on a paid tier for the Gemini API (billing active, using gemini-embedding-2 for text embeddings via the standard Generative Language API) and have been receiving repeated 429 RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED errors throughout the day, roughly once per hour, over the past 24+ hours.
Error observed:
gemini embeddings failed (429): Resource exhausted. Please try again later.

Our actual request volume is far below any documented paid-tier limit for this model. This matches multiple other reports in this forum (e.g. “429 RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED on Paid Tier 1 — quota appears stuck on free-tier limits despite active billing”, posted Sept 1, 2026) describing paid projects being incorrectly routed to free-tier quota metrics.
