I find it fun that some curious minded geeks sifted through some data and presented it here, let it be video stats, tag stats, or even grading websites. The grading website’s mechanics for example really interests me, it could be useful for any competition grading, of course as just a baseline. Also scraping code could be interesting.
I personally don’t think any of those geeks wanted any extra points. As you mention the judges are professionals and I’m sure they can ignore anything which would be deterrent.
When I’m writing this reply I see a warning “This post has already been flagged for moderator attention. Are you sure you wish to reply to it? Replies to negative content tend to encourage more negative behavior.” - try to remove any curse words, and maybe even tone it down (?) otherwise it might be moderated. I think you entitled to your opinion and good to hear your thoughts
I’ve seen in other stat topics that some people got upset. For example they don’t read and realize that the 5 min+ long video list doesn’t mean any disqualification. Being listed there does not mean any negative thing, to the contrary: if something I was surprised to learn that there are 10 hour and hour long videos, and can direct more attention to outlier projects.
But I understand that being a busy bee and eager beaver may not come across the same for everyone. I’m thankful for the hackers who spent time to compiled some stats. The judges will be OK. Everyone is super excited and waiting, so no wonder speculations and chatter is going on. I’ve never had so much chatter in other hackathons and I kinda love the activity!

Tbh the time it took OP to write this long winded rant is what it took me to build the judging app he seems to be so mad at.
I didn’t do it for brownie points. I also didn’t do it to seem like a good person. It costs money lol. It’s gonna be a startup validator soon. At the end of the day I did it because I like to code, I like to create. I also like the individuals who like to compete, and discuss the tech, those are good people in my book. I don’t hold people that complain in high regard though.

Bro, i wouldn’t worry about it, some dude in india with 1000 accounts, co-workers, whatever already won it. Were talking about the people who sell contest winning services,
I looked through the entries, and didnt find a single one that hasnt already been done, isnt a bot creation tool (we need more bots guys for sure), im sure i didnt see them all, but was expecting a little higher caliber in ideas and implementation.
Yall know notebook lm exists right? That takes out like 89% of what i saw. Fitness trackers are a dime a dozen, i already mentioned the bot prob, and then image recognition, again not new.
