Usage Rate Problem in the Last Few Days - Google AI Pro Account

I’m posting to ask for assistance with a change in the usage rates I see in my Pro account. I have been doing python and script development using the Gemini Gems for the past 6 months. Each Gem provides a knowledge base of relevant standards and context for a new AI chat to reference. My knowledge bases have not changed in months and the current code I’m working on is very short - 82 lines long. Most of the programs I work on are huge. I typically use 3.1 Pro for writing and debugging code.

Up until last week I could do a minor change/test on a program in a Gem context and see only 1-3% usage. Today, in working on this very small script, I started seeing 13%-17% usage per prompt. I opened a new chat inside the gem and saw the same thing. In that new chat session I asked Gemini why it occurred and what I could do. It said that errors in the usage reporting system was a widely reported problem and that I should post here. That single query cost me 10% of my current usage. Either a policy has been changed or something is badly broken. I need help (yes, my quota is 0). Many thanks.

I am seeing the same behavior. I have the cheaper Ultra plan. I have been building with Deep Think on html and JS files and the updates are costing me nearly 30% of my 5-hour limit. Earlier last week, it was only costing me 3-5%!!! Very frustrating!

I have also noticed an increase in “I ran into an issue and wasn’t able to finish thinking through this request. Please try again, and don’t worry, it didn’t count against your Deep Think limit.” errors.

It all started yesterday evening from what I can tell.

Not to be a jerk, but for the money we pay there should be a dashboard with detailed accountability of usage limits by activity and SLA. They roll out changes all of the time with no warning and we get hallucinations until they fix the bugs.
