[Ultra] Dramatic quota reduction after update — this needs an official explanation

Same here. I feel the Ultra Quota has been cut by 75%+. This is NOT a minor function change; this is a MAJOR SERVICE CHANGE. I do not think this is legal during a subscription!

What makes it worse is that Google does not even care enough to reply to this thread. Their only reply is a copy-paste one posted 3 days ago!

cant believe theyre so quiet about this up until now, you’ll really know when someone does something bad because they stop talking, someone poke google, they are really dragging this out, they know for sure that once they announce the quota cut by 99% of initial promised usage, their users will find something else, so they’re playing time so people stay for as long as their patience allow, I suggest we just find something else right NOW and let google decide when they make their call. I’d say if a significant percent % of subscribers are gone they’ll be forced to do something about it. so we should go before we waste more time waiting on their ‘‘announcement’’

Yes

No, they were always available. Now they are focusing us to use, what they already gave us. By taking from Pete to give to Paul. They need to click revert on the quotas, simple.

Yeah, and nobody wants to use a credit system where the billing is completely opaque. You don’t even know if credits are charged per request or per token. If it’s per token, they don’t say how many credits 1M input and output tokens cost, nor do they show the tokens consumed for each request and output. It feels like a complete mockery of developers.

Yeah, I am switching to Claude Code after this month. I think even the MAX 5x offers more quota than the Google Ultra now, and the MAX 5x is 150usd cheaper.

Now the antigravity is just not worth it : my time should be used on creating products/features and developing my business, rather than fighting against and debugging the tool itself.

Wow, it was such a hard and unpredicted blow. I have ultra subscription and it was a crazy reduction of regular quota, no doubt about it. I guess it’s truly hard not feeling deeply disappointed with Google. No transparency, no warning, no explanation and, as it seems, no respect.

I’m literally on the very same boat as everyone else here… Antigravity would be my rock solid development choice but, now, it looks like it will be “Buckle your seatbelt, Dorothy, 'cause Kansas is going bye-bye”…

When you say that, you’d better check what everyone on the forum is talking about regarding what happened to Ultra account quotas today.

From your reply, I see two things:

You think the Pro plan isn’t enough, and you’re strongly recommending this guy go for Ultra. On top of that, you’re also telling him to buy AI credits.

You clearly have no idea what went down today.

For Ultra users right now, running just one simple debugger can burn 20% of the 5‑hour quota in a single day.

It pushes usage straight up against the weekly hard cap.

This directly contradicts the official plan page that still promises no weekly limits for Ultra—and they did all of this with zero advance notice whatsoever.

Once you actually learn what happened today, come back and tell me:

will you still honestly recommend innocent users to sign up for Ultra and buy those AI credits with a clear conscience?

I’d like to play devil’s advocate and naively assume that this could be a simple bug. After all, paying for ultra and not being able to use it for more than a few minutes unless you cash out thousands of dollars for credit is simply evil.

It would be nice to hear from the devs, after all we are paying customers and not chip change.

Hi there, a Pro user here (sadly i did the anual payment and i do not know how to get my money back. clearly i will not renew this).
The usage of Claude or Gemini Pro models is a joke. I literally asked to plan (not code PLAN!) something that involved reading 6 files in kotlin and based on that proposed a plan to implement it using Claude Opus model. The quota changed from 100% (just reset) to 80% after doing a 5 files read and writting a PLAN.

If i do the same in a free account on claude using sonnet i could probably do that 10/20 times before hitting the hourly use restriction (now they included a weekly restriction to on free accounts)
I think a paid service should never be lower than a free tier one. and looking on the high ammount of complains in the forum, clearly something was handled very bad (sorry for my english, not my first language and angry at the same time)

it should have been clearly stated that the only usable model for the plan would be Flash only, that way i would had thougth more my decision to subscribe.

Don’t feel bad. Ultra plan here, a simple thing that would’ve not even go under 20% on Opus is now down 40%. with Sonnet, I’m sure they’ll figure out the problem, and that it is temporary because the alternative is just well, look for alternatives.

google WILL never change until it realize it’s going to die.

I’m going to switch to Codex. This is obviously Google’s doing on purpose.

Seems like Google doesn’t want to care about what Ultra users really care about. I’ll cancel my Ultra plan right away then.
