Hi, I’m having a persistent Google AI Studio issue with MP4 video uploads.
When I upload MP4 video files, AI Studio shows:
“Token count failed”
I also receive this error:
“Http response at 400 or 500 level, http status code: 500.”
What I’ve tried:
- Deleted failed uploads and re-uploaded
- Refreshed the AI Studio page
- Created a new prompt/session
- Tried uploading only one video at a time
- Tried smaller batches
- Tested across multiple MP4 files and folders
- Workspace Support confirmed my AI Expanded Access is active
The issue still happens even with a single MP4 file in a fresh AI Studio session.
This appears to be an AI Studio video parsing/token-count failure, not an access/subscription issue.
Has anyone seen this before, or is there a known workaround for MP4 files that trigger token count failure?
I can provide screenshots showing the red “Token count failed” upload cards and the HTTP 500 message.
