The recent AI Studio update is a total disaster. When will this platform be treated seriously?

i can just say thanks to google for this product, but i am experiencing difficuties in using this new as well.. hoping to continue working with this without have to go to competitors :frowning:

I believe the service is returning to normal operation. I just checked the application I’m developing and the prompt worked correctly this time, without taking forever to process.

Hi Logan, thank you for the update. Kindly make Gemini capable to output .schema .hbs files.

Also, the conversation reset button should still be there.

UPDATE: the chat is working now, it’s back to normal, I was able to interact with it, do an update, and successfully push to GitHub.

There are some minor bugs left to fix. It would be great if we could have the clear chat button and the chat history back.

its literally one of the worst rollouts i’ve ever experienced. I havent been able to get anything done since this new update.

Even though I understand the eagerness x).

They broke my app. I can’t get it back. I have been working long time on it :((

Going forward your apps will only be accessible in AI Studio, rather than also in Google Drive. You can delete and download your apps from AI Studio at any time.

… When I’ve seen this after wanting to send a message to my app to know where all my previous chat and application dissapeared… I got goosebump… … I am actually so mad… I had so many thing stored in my drive… … and now? it’s gone… gone for real… 8 month of work… thank you… thank you google… for taking such care for us… to not letting us be able to save anything before rolling out update… thank you… I will stay still… but if this happen again… I will definitely drop you for Grok… period.

Ps: I fortunately had a copy of my app from 2 week ago, because I don’t trust google at all, but still… WARN US before rolling things out… and take actions to save our data safely instead of erasing everything…

I am unable to build any new apps. Is anyone else having this issue? Builder just spinning.

Many options are gone.

1: the button for restarting a chat with the code assistant is gone.

2: The option to save your app in your APP is gone, you can only save it as a zip file, not in the app builder anymore, only the code assistant can do it, not letting peoples rewritte their codes themselves and only letting the ai being able to do so by missing almost everytime… meaning that now we rely on a piece of crap without being able to manage our codes ourselves when we could before.

3: The code assistant is not functioning right now when you post your zip file of your previous project in it. But it WORK only if you start building a new project to zero…

COnclusion? Google is doing either damage control with their view… Grok? I’m coming.

I know, I love google as well, the animations, the graphics, etc. However google ai studio literally feels like it has been bought out by some cheap company right now. And they have the audacity to update gemini to 3.1 when gemini 3 (on ai studio) is already buggy enough. glad to see it isn’t just my side having problems though…

Also, it seems like they are moving away from google drive (at least I got a notification about it) for storing the projects, which might be why none of us can see our past prompts and current projects right now.

Still doesn’t work for me, but the apps load at least, I almost lost one because during the migration it got deleted, but luckily I am using github to upload and test changes so I had a local copy. After that I left the other apps and waiting for it to fix fully.

I can be mad about this, but the value I’ve gotten from it so far, allows me to have a break for few days and wait for it to stabilize.

I get it working. the new model 3.1 seems broken, but switch to flash it works better than before, maybe because no one is using it. if it continue to stay this way, the reset conversation button is not necessary.

Confirming the deletion of the app from Google drive fails every time. This renders the sandbox useless as every prompt initiates the same modal regarding deleting the copy from G drive.

@Logan_Kilpatrick , could I ask of the blast radius you mentioned earlier, quantified/in English?

i.e. Does this affect Playground? What exactly was lost, what was kept, what is happening with the data in AI Studio. Why is a migration touching Google Drive data? If all of the above, is there mitigations being applied and data rollbacks, if any?

I think we’re burying the lede here with tons of lost work and potentially ghost data loss for other users. Please at the very least put some effort in coming cleaner with why, what (happened), how and next steps, instead of quoting a point-forward status page, @Mustan_lokhand . I think everyone here needs answers instead of “it works now“. You don’t drop a bomb and just apologise.

The fundamental rule of engineering is to never disrespect user data and keep it safe. This makes long standing users want to leave this platform in batches, where updates are vetted and not merged in like hotcakes into prod. I got goosebumps reading this thread, engineer of 2 decades.
