Stuck in Free Trial loop: $10 Prepay credit purchased but getting "Error during billing setup"

Hello,

I am experiencing a synchronization issue between Google Cloud Billing and Google AI Studio.

  • The Issue: I have successfully purchased a $10 Prepay balance, and it is visible in my AI Studio Billing dashboard. However, my project is still stuck on the “Free trial” tier. When I click “Activate billing”, it consistently throws an “Error during billing setup” popup.
  • Troubleshooting Done: I have verified the billing link in Cloud Console and tried clearing browser sessions, but the backend state won’t sync. I do not want to make another payment as the funds are already there.

Could a community manager or support engineer please manually trigger a billing synchronization for my project?

Note: There is no manual billing sync process at our end.

Our records indicate that currently your project gen-lang-client-07520... is active on Paid Tier 1 with an active AIS prepaid balance. Please try making API calls directly using your project’s API key.
