# Sad, Angry and confused

I pay $20 a month for Gemini and just started using AI studio only for it to tell me i’ve hit some usage limit and i cant use it. Uhh what?? I pay for this. My api key or something is stuck on free when it should say PRO.

Well, having a Google AI subscription doesn’t give you unlimited limits in AI Studio—it gives you higher limits. Although I agree, they seem to be broken.

And the subscription doesn’t apply to API keys. If you want a paid API key, set up billing and pay for tokens.

I don’t even know what an API key is, I just wanted to build my android app but Google will Google I guess
