Restoring saved checkpoint broke app UI and icons in Google AI Studio workspace

Hi everyone and Google AI Studio team,

I have been developing an Android applet workspace directly in Google AI Studio over the last 3 months.

Today (August 29, 2026), my app preview suddenly stopped showing the actual app UI (Login screen / custom icons) and instead rendered a generic phone home screen preview with default Android icons (Gmail, Photos, YouTube).

I attempted to restore my working stable checkpoint from August 4, 2026, using the “Restore” checkpoint feature, but the simulator/preview still fails to load the compiled app UI properly.

- Workspace App: Asha Old Clothes Buyer

- Package / App ID: com.aistudio.ashaclothes.kvbmq

- Model: Gemini 3.6 Flash

- Action history shows: Edited app/build.gradle.kts (versionCode = 31, versionName = “1.0.1”)

Could someone from the team or community advise on how to force a complete re-render/re-run of the applet after a restore, or how to recover the original rendered UI state?
