I am experiencing a 403 PERMISSION_DENIED error when trying to use the Gemini API.The API was working normally before, but it suddenly stopped working. Now every API request returns the following error:“Your project has been denied access. Please contact support.”My project is currently using the Gemini API Free Tier for personal testing and development.Could you please manually review my project and account to determine why access was denied?
If there is a security, verification, or policy issue that needs to be resolved, please let me know what I need to do. If my project is eligible, I would greatly appreciate it if you could restore my Gemini API access.
Getting a 403 API error response and / or seeing “Unavailable” next to your project in AI studio indicates a flag has been placed on your account. To proceed:
If you’re on the free tier with no billing attached, please try the below steps:
Check Model Availability & Rate Limits:
Ensure that the model you are requesting is available on your current plan. For example, not all models are available on the free tier. You can verify model availability, quotas, and limits on the AI Studio Rate Limit dashboard.
Once age, phone and 2sv are configured, retry your request or create a new API key in Google AI Studio.
If completing these steps still does not restore access (or if using a model requiring a paid tier), you might want to consider adding prepayment credits directly in Google AI Studio and/ or attaching a Google Cloud Billing account in the Google Cloud Console. Please note this will mean you lose your free tier quota.
I have already completed age verification, phone verification, and 2-Step Verification (2SV), but my Gemini API project is still denied access.
The API returns:
403 PERMISSION_DENIED: Your project has been denied access.
My AI Studio project also shows that the billing tier is unavailable.
I am requesting a manual review of my project/account and would like to know whether there is an account, project, eligibility, or Trust & Safety restriction preventing Gemini API access.
I would like to continue using the Free Tier for personal development and testing.
