Paid Tier 2 in AI Studio but Gemini API still shows Tier 1 - Production Service Suspended

We are currently experiencing what appears to be the same issue, but it is now directly impacting our production service and requires urgent review.

Current status:

  • Google AI Studio shows “Paid Tier 2”
  • Gemini API Rate Limits still show Tier 1
  • Gemini 2.5 Flash TTS remains limited to Tier 1 quotas (10 RPM)
  • We received a “Project has been downgraded” notification
  • Our billing spend cap has been reached and Gemini API usage is currently suspended
  • Production customers are currently affected

We have already:

  • Submitted the Gemini API Quota and Billing Cap Increase Request form
  • Opened a Google Cloud Support case
  • Submitted a separate forum thread regarding this issue

The most concerning part is that AI Studio reports Paid Tier 2, while Gemini API continues to operate under Tier 1 limits. This appears to indicate either a tier synchronization issue, an account configuration problem, or a pending review state that is not visible to customers.

At this point, we urgently need clarification from the Gemini API or Billing team regarding:

  • Whether our Tier 2 upgrade request is currently under review
  • Whether the “Project has been downgraded” notification is related to the spend cap restriction
  • Whether the mismatch between AI Studio and Gemini API tier status is a known issue
  • Whether any action is required from our side

Because this issue is actively preventing us from serving production customers, we would greatly appreciate review by the appropriate Google team as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Sigh… there are so many issues. Mine has also suddenly changed from Tier 2 → Tier 1,
and I’m even starting to think I won’t be able to use the Gemini API in a production environment.

I’m facing that also
