Today, 09/03/2026, I waited in Google AI Studio until midnight (00:00) Pacific Time as usual to update the free limits. In the end, I’m left holding the bag because nothing has updated. I wanted to work with the FREE models, but instead I’m faced with a buggy interface and limits.
Some new update? A bug? Or just the free segment being disabled?

Same here. Unfortunately, since the end of last year, Google AI Studio has taken a sharp downturn and has basically become just another tool. Before that, I used Lovable, Replit, and v0.dev, but I kept running into the same issue: credits would run out quickly and I could never build a more solid project. When I discovered Google AI Studio, it felt like finding an infinite pot of gold. I knew it was probably too good to be true, and that eventually the party would end.
It’s still much more worthwhile than the alternatives, but it’s risky to rely on it for our projects. The trend seems to be toward becoming increasingly restrictive and gradually pushing users toward paid plans.
I’m ok with the slow buggy behaviour what does my head in the free tier is the ‘circles ‘ actioned meaning I’m doing all the same actions instructed then a lil more tweaking for no reason feels like I’m going around in circles
