Hello Google officials on this forum, could you please clarify whether the quota limit for AI Studio is temporary or permanent? This issue has been bothering me lately. If it’s only temporary, when will the quota be restored?

Hello @bzjg_kjue, welcome to the AI Forum! Rate limits are tied to the project’s usage tier and are typically measured across three dimensions:
- Requests per minute (RPM)
- Tokens per minute (input) (TPM)
- Requests per day (RPD)
You can verify the specific rate limits and quotas for your account directly on the dashboard in AI Studio.
If you’re in the free tier, i.e. haven’t set up billing, your limits will be lower.
Regarding “permanent or temporary” limits…
- If you’re asking if the RPM / TPM limits will always apply, the answer is yes… we have no plan to eliminate these limits.
- If your query relates to unexpected 429’s / 503’s, we’re preparing a pinned post which will contain more guidance.

I always wonder why they don’t disclose the specific limits for the free tier?

Hello, the limits for free users have been significantly lowered recently. From 50 requests, it’s now around 15-20. Will the limits ever return to their previous values?
