Is the Gemini token counter bugged for paid users?

I am a paid Gemini (Advanced/Business) subscriber, but I am repeatedly hitting a “Token count failed” error in Google AI Studio.

The most frustrating part is that this error occurs even when I haven’t used any tokens yet. Even in a completely new prompt or with a very short input, the token counter fails to initialize, making it impossible to run any queries.

Here are the specific details:

  • Error Message: “Token count failed”

  • Account Status: Paid Subscriber (Gemini Advanced/Pro)

  • Issue Context: The error appears immediately, even before any significant token usage or in a fresh session.

  • Model Used: (예: Gemini 1.5 Pro)

  • Steps Taken: I have cleared my browser cache, tried Incognito mode, and even switched between different models (Flash/Pro), but the issue persists.
