# I encountered a 429 error while using the Gemini 2.5 Pro API.

I created a new project in AI Studio, but when making actual API calls, I received a 429 error with the message: “You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details.” This AI Studio account had not been used for over 5 months, yet it still indicates that I have exceeded the quota.

I noticed that the billing tier on my API page shows “Unavailable”. I am unsure if this is relevant.

I am unsure if this issue is related to my use of the free quota, as I was able to use it normally before.
