Hello,
I’m a developer building an app using Google AI Studio for a client. The app is a photo editing tool for ad creation, and I need to clarify how access control works before proceeding.
When I access the app link in an incognito window (not logged in with the owner’s Google account), it shows a screen asking me to submit my email to request access — similar to how Google Drive handles restricted files.
I have the following questions:
-
Is this “request access” behavior the standard sharing model for AI Studio apps? Is it inherited from Google Drive permissions?
-
If the app is set to “Restricted” in Drive, can the owner approve or deny individual access requests directly from their Google account — and if so, where exactly is that managed?
-
Is this access control mechanism stable and intended for production use, or is it considered a prototype/development feature only?
-
Are there any known limitations or ongoing issues with the advanced sharing permissions for AI Studio apps? (I found some forum posts reporting that this feature was unavailable for some users.)
I want to make sure I give my client accurate information before we proceed. Any official clarification would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
