Google's DX is a disaster: The fragmented chaos of using Gemini Pro in VS Code, Why I’m canceling Google One: A Herculean task to get Gemini working like Claude or Codex

Either I’m the dumbest, poorest programmer around, or Google is on another planet.
I have Google One, which gives me access to Gemini Pro. But when I try to get it working anything like Codex or Claude, I find it’s impossible!
I see Google has abandoned Gemini CLI; installing it causes an error when logging in with Google AI Pro, and trying to install the Visual Studio Code plugin triggers another error telling me to install Antigravity.
When I look at the price for Antigravity, it doesn’t show up; I have to click “buy” just to check the cost. (As we say in my country: does the price depend on what the customer looks like? Do they charge more if you look rich? It’s embarrassing.)
Antigravity has a free plan, but even though I’m paying the same amount I do for GPT Plus, I don’t get any plan on Antigravity. It’s easier to just use Codex and cancel Google One. I see things like Google Cloud vs. Vertex AI vs. Google B2C—honestly, I think they’ve lost the plot! They make a Herculean task out of it, while the competition has tools that are so polished and work with zero friction.
For that matter, even the Chinese tool Kimi is better—and mind you, they aren’t great, and many pages are in Chinese—but you pay a cheap subscription and get access both via the web and through a Visual Studio Code plugin.
