Legal bassis? Fine everywhere but where GDPR is law which as a citizen elsewhere I find extremely annoying. I stand by my statement that usage of queries is legal because it is done for ascertaining user intent. Much the same as they have done before AI came about and copped to in the recent DOJ monopoly ruling.
With the appropriate legal basis, search queries (what people search for) are legal to process. But Google claims that this makes the AI better. That’s what my post is about — you completely misunderstand the whole thing. Google cannot use search queries for AI training because it has no valid legal basis for that. The AI does not learn from search queries. Therefore, they have no valid legal basis to retain search queries for AI‑training purposes. Please do not comment on my post any further, thank you.
They aren’t using queries in training that would be useless info to a training set whereas understanding the intent of the query is key to what they include in “answers” because if they don’t know what the user wants… pretty hard to satisfy their needs.
Google does not understand “intent” in any mystical way, and it definitely does not predict why I search for something. My post is about the fact that Google claims future queries improve their AI — this is technically false, which makes their legal basis invalid. Your reply makes no sense at all, as if you think Google is some kind of mind reader. Please stop commenting, and I won’t be replying to you anymore.
