I am a Google AI Ultra subscriber with 10,000 AI credits experiencing a critical issue with the Google Flow Tool Builder (labs.google/fx/tools/flow) that has been blocking my professional work for several days.
This issue is NOT related to image or video generation. The problem occurs specifically when instructing the Tool Builder agent to create or modify source code files in my project.
Issue description:
When I send the agent instructions to create or update files in my project (TypeScript/React source code), the agent processes the request normally β it reads the instruction, plans the changes, describes what it will do β but at the end it fails to actually write the file and displays: βSomething went wrong. Try again.β
The file is never created or modified despite the agent reporting it would do so.
What makes this critical: this exact workflow β same commands, same code, same project structure β was working perfectly just a few weeks ago. Nothing changed on my end. The error started appearing around July 03, 2026 and has persisted since then across multiple projects, new and existing.
What I have tried:
- Creating a brand new project from scratch
- Reducing file size to under 100 lines
- Different instruction phrasings in English and Portuguese
- Multiple browser sessions and cache clearing
- Different file sizes and content types
None of these workarounds resolved the issue.
