Google AI Studio Starter Tier disappeared — existing app cannot be republished without billing

Hello,

I have an existing Google AI Studio Build Mode app called 「ニャン帳」.

It was previously working and published without paid Cloud Billing.

Now the published URL returns HTTP 503, and when I try to publish again, AI Studio shows:

“My First Project”
“No billing setup”

and only offers “Refresh”.

When I inspect the project selector, it says:

“This project is locked because it is required by Firestore.”

I previously enabled Cloud Billing because I thought it was required, but I stopped it afterward. I would like to continue using the app under the free Starter Tier rather than enable paid billing.

I have already:

  • verified all 88 cat records are still accessible;
  • backed up all data;
  • downloaded the JS files;
  • downloaded the ZIP export of the app.

I do not want to delete or recreate the app or its data.

Could you please check whether the Starter Tier deployment for this existing app can be restored?
The app was previously published and working before this issue occurred.
I would like to restore the existing deployment rather than create a new app.

Also, could you confirm whether the previous billing activation/deactivation affected the Starter Tier entitlement?

Thank you.

Hello @mofumofcat ,

Not all accounts are eligible for The Starter Tier. Please check out the caveats mentioned in the Google AI Studio deployment documentation. Eligibility is determined automatically, and we cannot review Starter Tier access manually.

You might want to consider linking a Cloud Billing account to your project.
