Google Ai Studio build Update - do not use

Google AI Studio has recently received an update, and as with any significant change to a platform we rely on, it is advisable to approach this with caution.

Before integrating the new version into production or business-critical environments, we strongly recommend conducting thorough testing in staging or sandbox platforms first. This allows you to evaluate its behavior, identify potential inconsistencies, and ensure compatibility with your existing infrastructure.

Patience and methodical validation are always the best allies when adopting updates in environments where stability is non-negotiable.

Following our previous advisory regarding the recent Google AI Studio update, we feel compelled to go further with a clear and direct recommendation: do not use Google AI Studio Build under any circumstances at this time.

The current version presents a critical and blocking issue: the restore functionality is completely non-operational. This means that once an error occurs, you are unable to restore a previous state, unable to continue working on what was already built, and unable to recover your progress in any way. The platform leaves you at a dead end with no viable exit.

The volume and severity of the errors encountered make this tool unsuitable for any serious use case. We strongly advise waiting until Google releases an official fix before considering its adoption.

Proceeding with its use in its current state carries a significant risk of data loss and wasted development effort.

The new ai studio update is infuriating. It takes longer to load, harder to navigate the settings options(though there are more options). the clear chat button is gone(which was incredibly useful). and I’m not sure why this is happening, but edits being made now are causing a lot of errors within my app, as if the ai has downgraded somehow.

I hope they revert the changes, or find the solution to this. I was just a day or two away from full release on my app, which i have been working on for 3 months, and now with the new updates to ai studio I can’t get a lick of work done on the app, everything is progressing backwards :frowning:

I completely understand your frustration, and I am sorry to hear you are this close to launch after three months of work.

The most sensible course of action at this point is to wait until Google addresses these issues. I have been testing a recent project myself and ran into a critical problem: the restore functionality is completely broken. When I attempted to restore a previous version, it failed — and when I tried to go back to the state prior to the restore attempt, that was blocked as well. You end up in a dead end with no way to recover your work.

On top of that, I also noticed that the response time between requests has noticeably decreased, which adds another layer of frustration to an already compromised workflow.

My honest recommendation: step away from AI Studio Build for now and wait for an official fix. Continuing to work on it in its current state risks making things worse. Your three months of work deserve a stable platform — this is not it right now.
