Gemini Code Assist / Antigravity authentication error: Browser auth succeeds but client fails (Token exchange timeout & eligibility mismatch)

Hi team,

I am having trouble signing in to Gemini Code Assist / Antigravity (affecting both the IDE extension and Antigravity 2.0).

Account & Region Details:

  • Account: tuz****gmail.com

  • Account Region & Payments Profile: United States (US)

  • Age Verification: Completed successfully in browser.

Problem Description:

  1. The OAuth flow completes properly in the browser and displays “身份验证成功 (Authentication Successful)”.

  2. However, the client application fails to establish the session, producing two related errors:

    • Connection Timeout on Token Endpoint:

Post "[https://oauth2.googleapis.com/token](https://oauth2.googleapis.com/token)": dial tcp 74.125.135.95:443: connectex: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time...

    • Eligibility Error:

There was an unexpected issue setting up your account. Your account is not eligible for Gemini Code Assist for individuals at this time.

Since my account is already a US-based personal account with verified US payment details, could you please advise:

  1. Whether there are explicit proxy / SSL environment variable settings required by the Antigravity desktop client and VS Code extension to route oauth2.googleapis.com calls?

  2. Why the client flags the account as “not eligible” immediately after the browser confirms authentication?

Thanks for your support!

It’s a loop: every time I successfully verify on my phone and return to the computer, it asks me to try again.

Hi @tzssd_tzssdb,

Thanks for the screenshots! There are two separate issues here:

  1. Connection timeout: Your browser can reach Google but the app can’t. If you use a proxy, set HTTPS_PROXY and HTTP_PROXY system-wide and restart the app. Also try pausing any antivirus or firewall that scans web traffic.
  2. “Not eligible”: Your first screenshot shows Google couldn’t finish verifying your account. Try the verify link again in a private window with only this account signed in, and run the Security Checkup at myaccount.google.com.

If the issue still persists, Could you please try logging in using either the latest Antigravity 2.0 or the Antigravity CLI to see if you can log in successfully with the same account and start a new conversation?

Also note that Antigravity only works in supported countries, and using a VPN to get around that isn’t supported. If you’re in a supported country and it still fails, please let us know!.
