Gemini API project stuck on Free Tier despite active billing and prepaid credits

My Gemini API project is still showing Free Tier even though billing is active and prepaid credits are available.

Project: Default Gemini Project

Project ID: gen-lang-client-059223312..

Billing account: My Billing Account

Billing account ID: 01093F-…-F746E1

Billing plan: Prepay

Available credit: CLP 10,000

Google Cloud Console shows that the project is correctly linked to the active billing account. However, Google AI Studio still shows:

  • Free Tier / Free Trial

  • Free Tier rate limits

  • Gemini 3.6 Flash limited to 5 RPM

  • “Error during billing setup” when clicking “Activate billing”

Could a Google team member please check whether the Gemini API billing tier is out of sync and manually refresh or synchronize it for this project?

I can provide the complete billing account ID and screenshots privately to an authorized Google team member if needed.

We do not have a manual billing sync mechanism.

Your project is currently restricted to Free Tier rate limits because the linked Google Cloud billing account (01093F-...) is still in the Free Trial state and needs to be upgraded.

To resolve this:

  1. Open the Google Cloud Console Billing page (https://console.cloud.google.com/billing) and manually complete the upgrade to exit the Free Trial state.
  2. Once the billing account is fully active and upgraded, add prepayment credits directly in Google AI Studio (https://aistudio.google.com/billing).
