Gemini API access review request — AI Studio shows Restricted and API returns 403 PERMISSION_DENIED — Sep 15 2026

Hello,

I am requesting a manual review of Gemini API access for my Google AI Studio project.

Google AI Studio currently shows:

  • Status: Restricted
  • Billing tier: Unavailable

Direct Gemini API requests return:

403 PERMISSION_DENIED
Your project has been denied access. Please contact support.

I have already verified the following:

  • The Google Account holder is over 18 and no age verification is required.
  • Phone verification is complete.
  • 2-Step Verification is enabled.
  • I generated new API keys in Google AI Studio.
  • I reproduced the error using a direct REST request, independently of Codex, LiteLLM, or any third-party application.

Intended use:
Personal research and software development, using the Gemini API with a local coding assistant.

Could a member of the Gemini API team please review whether this project/account has been incorrectly flagged and restore Gemini API access if appropriate?

It seems like your projects are flagged by automated account security checks. To unblock this error, you should consider upgrading to a paid plan. You could add prepayment credits directly in Google AI Studio and/ or by attaching an active billing account in the Google Cloud Console.
