Lately, in AI Studio, almost every reply that I get from gemini 3.1 pro preview when it is writing code in dart (for a flutter app), it writes at the end of the reply:

”Citations:

I have no idea what this dragonfly is, I clicked on the link and apparently it’s some sort of old attempt at a flutter browser.
The thing is that I had ‘Grounding with google search’ turned off, also every other tool option was off. Thinking set to HIGH, temperature set to 0.3, everything else set to standard values.

I feel that it’s quite abnormal that the model provides a citation when I didn’t enable grounding with google search or url context.
That dragonfly flutter browser attempt seems to have been abandoned 2 years ago, therefore it’s likely not even up to date code, I doubt that it can help the model in any way to look at that..

Would be great if someone at google could explain why this happens.

Yes, sometimes the citations differ, but still I doubt that they are supposed to even show up at all when having grounding with google search and url context disabled.

Hello [@everyone](https://discuss.ai.google.dev/groups/everyone),
Please note that while Grounding Search is an active tool designed for live web querying, the model is also capable of supplying functional links directly from its pre-trained dataset. Therefore, it can often fulfill requests for specific URLs without needing to execute a live search.
