Why did you guys had to remove the camera

The camera interface and capture behavior in Google AI Studio have recently changed as part of updates to align with the new Gemini model integration. Image input and preview handling now rely on browser-level APIs rather than the legacy in-app camera component, which means zoom and framing options are determined by your device’s camera driver and browser permissions rather than by AI Studio itself. To restore full zoom functionality, open AI Studio in an updated Chrome or Edge browser, grant camera permissions when prompted, and use your system camera controls instead of the previous in-app UI.
If you require the earlier version’s camera workflow for testing multimodal prompts, you can upload images directly through the Input → Image panel or via the Gemini API using the fileData parameter as described in the Vertex AI image input guide. For persistent UI or feature regressions, file feedback directly through the Help > Send Feedback option in AI Studio so the product team can assess restoring zoom control in future releases.

Please try refreshing your browser and clearing the cache and cookies, then check whether the camera works. Let me know if the issue still persists.
