Summary
In Google Antigravity, customizations, MCP servers, and skills currently rely primarily on manual filesystem configuration (~/.gemini/config/skills/, .agents/skills/, skills.json). While the open file-based specification is great for flexibility, having a native UI Marketplace & Plugin Manager with automated GitHub sync would dramatically improve usability and developer adoption.
Inspiration / Benchmark
Claude Desktop recently introduced a dedicated “Manage Marketplaces” UI where developers can:
- Add any Git repository URL (e.g.
https://github.com/obra/superpowers). - Toggle “Sync automatically (Re-syncs on GitHub changes)”.
- Keep all upstream skills, runbooks, and subagent prompts up-to-date silently in the background.
Suggested Features for Antigravity:
- Customizations UI Hub: Under
Settings > Customizations, provide an “Add Marketplace / Git Source” button where users can paste any repository URL. - Auto-Sync Toggle: An option to automatically re-sync / update skills when changes are pushed to GitHub (either on app launch or on a configurable periodic interval).
- One-Click Skill Discovery: Automatically register and surface newly added skills from subscribed repositories in Antigravity catalog without requiring manual terminal commands or symlinks.
- Community Curated List: An in-app directory of verified, popular agent skills and MCP tools that can be installed with a single click.
Why This Matters:
The agentic ecosystem is evolving at lightning speed. Community skill repositories (like superpowers, specialized testing runbooks, and domain-specific agent prompts) release updates and fixes almost daily. Having native GitHub auto-sync inside Antigravity would make it effortless for developers and teams to stay up-to-date and share custom workflows seamlessly.
