Hello Google Developer Community, I would like to submit a comprehensive Feature Request regarding the expanding ecosystem of Google Gemini Extensions and the Gemini Live API. The Proposal: Introduce an active framework or an official partner extension pipeline specifically targeted at massive live broadcast streams and directory platforms, such as Online Radio Box. Context & Use Case: With Gemini’s multi-modal capabilities advancing rapidly, users frequently request contextual live media through voice or prompt commands (e.g., “Play [Station Name] from Online Radio Box”). Currently, Gemini defaults to mainstream single-track streaming providers or internal YouTube infrastructure. However, a significant sector of global users relies on internet radio aggregators to tune into local, regional, and worldwide AM/FM streams. Technical Implementation Idea: Structured API Contract / Tool Calling: Google could provide an open Extension Template for global radio syndicators. Gemini could use Function Calling to search station metadata (genres, countries, dial IDs) hosted on platforms like Online Radio Box. Stream Handoff via Gemini Live API: Leverage the native audio-in/audio-out pipelines to parse user commands and instantly route the HLS/Icecast audio stream URL returned by the directory back into the user’s Gemini chat container or Android assistant shell. Value Proposition: Incorporating extensive, structured third-party radio indexes as core ecosystem tools will dramatically improve Gemini’s localized intelligence, zero-shot audio querying, and competitiveness against standard voice-assistant legacy frameworks.
