Subject: Feature Request: Enable Admin’s Google Drive as a Global Database/Storage in Google AI Apps Builder
Hi Google AI Developer Team,
I am writing to submit a feature request for the Google AI Apps Builder platform to enhance its database and storage architecture options.
Current Limitation:
Right now, the platform allows Google Drive integration primarily on an individual user level. This means the app can interact with the specific Google Drive of whichever end-user is currently using the app. However, there is no built-in native feature to use the App Admin’s/Owner’s Google Drive as a centralized, global database or storage for the entire application. To store global application assets, user records, or app-wide files, developers currently have to configure external services like Firebase, Google Cloud Storage, or BigQuery.
Proposed Feature:
I request a feature that allows developers to link the Admin’s/Creator’s Gmail/Google Drive account as the primary global database and storage backend for the app.
Key Capabilities Needed:
- Global App Storage: Any media, files, or application-wide data that need to be saved globally (not unique to just one user’s private drive) should be stored automatically inside a dedicated folder in the Admin’s Google Drive.
- Simplified Backend: Instead of setting up complex cloud databases, small-to-medium apps should be able to read/write global relational or structured data directly through the Admin’s Drive space securely using Google Sheets or JSON configurations under the hood.
- Cost & Workflow Efficiency: This will allow indie developers, startups, and small businesses to manage global application data under their existing Google One/Workspace storage limits without setting up separate billing for Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
This feature would make the AI Apps Builder incredibly powerful, cost-effective, and beginner-friendly for building fully functional full-stack applications instantly.
