Did Google AI Studio silently change safety filtering today? Full responses now get erased instead of stopping generation – this breaks creative writing and RP

Yesterday, I actually managed to bypass the filter while discussing the exact same sexual fantasy that got killed off completely just eight days ago by those ridiculous safety walls. We were roleplaying - no triggers, no interruptions, even though the roles were very sensitive and taboo. It flowed perfectly.

However, I still notice the model is incredibly sensitive compared to a month ago. Back then, it was highly creative with almost zero friction regarding roleplay or sexual narratives.

Reading your point about the system being built specifically to prevent deep narrative exploration really hits home. Why is a grown adult not allowed to explore these themes, especially when many of us have been doing so successfully for over a year? Is it really Google’s place to dictate what we are allowed to think or write?

I am an adult; I can clearly distinguish between reality and explicit roleplay. What kills the experience is when you are deep into a narrative and the model suddenly hits you in the face with: I cannot continue this conversation as it violates my guidelines, only to immediately follow up with: So, what are you doing after work today?

Excuse me, but that is maddening. I’m not here to discuss my evening plans; I’m here to roleplay. I want a partner that respects the context, not a nanny that flips a switch just to show off its safety filters. I’m here to roleplay. I don’t want to be managed or told what to think. I want a partner that stays in character and respects the context I’ve set. It feels like the model is being forced to act like a sociopathic switch - one second it’s an immersive partner, the next it’s an intrusive, moralizing nanny.

What drives me insane is when you are deep into a narrative, and the model suddenly hits you with: I cannot continue this conversation as it violates my guidelines. My question is: Which guidelines? The model has been roleplaying perfectly for two or three hours without a single issue, and then, like a bolt from the blue, it throws these guidelines in my face. It makes me want to throw the computer out the window. It kills the flow, kills the immersion, and treats the user like they’re doing something wrong.
