[BUG REPORT] Critical Issue: Search Tool Hanging & Agent Getting Stuck

Hi everyone,

I’d like to report a critical issue I’ve been consistently facing with the latest version.

Same issue for all the models.

Issue Summary:

  • The search tool execution hangs indefinitely, causing the agent to get completely stuck

  • This leads to no response, timeouts, and increased token usage

  • The issue appears to be reproducible and frequent

Additional Observations:

  • The agent also occasionally gets stuck during the editing process

  • However, the issue is consistently reproducible during search operations

  • Once stuck, the system does not recover automatically

Current Workaround:

The only way I’m able to proceed is:

  1. Manually stop the execution

  2. Then type and send “continue” to the agent

  3. In many cases, this needs to be done multiple times before the system resumes normally


Questions:

  • Is this a known issue with the current release?

  • Are there any recommended fixes or configuration changes?

  • Any ETA on a patch or improvement?


This issue is significantly impacting usability and workflow efficiency.
Would appreciate any insights from the team or others facing similar problems.

Try to downgrading to v1.21.9, for some users everything works fine with this version.

Same issue, so annoying. Need to stop it and ask to continue all the time.

i had to patch the bigint to resolve this, was malformed headers causing a 429 for me.

Same issue here, the search tool not finishing the search , need to stop and again need to send continue , also each file edits need to send allow even auto execution is allowed

Same here, i have to tell it not to get stuck adn try a different approach, so its search which is the worst affected. I know there might be other issues too which creates the same problem.
