I’m seeing frequent UI thread freezes (“Not Responding”) in Antigravity IDE 2.5.5 on Windows 11, with freezes lasting anywhere from 10s up to 85s.
I already tried wiping the cache (.antigravity-ide and %APPDATA%\Antigravity IDE), but the freezes keep happening. The built-in profiler triggered automatically and captured a few samples pointing to synchronous file tree recursion (Object.addFile) and Oniguruma WASM tokenization.
Freeze period example (02:49:08 to 02:50:33) dropping ptyHost heartbeats: [main] No ptyHost heartbeat after 6 seconds [main] CodeWindow: detected unresponsive [main] CodeWindow: recovered from unresponsive
Sample 1 - blocked in recursive file tree loading: at Object.addFile (workbench.desktop.main.js:3194:20611) at Vso.findNumber (workbench.desktop.main.js:3195:10735) at aoo (workbench.desktop.main.js:3195:40625)
Sample 2 - tokenizer lockup in onig.wasm: at vscode-oniguruma/release/onig.wasm:wasm-function[136] at r._createOnigScanner (vscode-oniguruma/release/main.js:1:10640) at n.createOnigScanner (vscode-oniguruma/release/main.js:1:4984)
EventEmitter leak warning: (node:23436) MaxListenersExceededWarning: Possible EventEmitter memory leak detected. 11 closed listeners added to [BrowserWindow].
Other notes:
Before clearing cache, Extension Host kept crashing because google.antigravity bundle wasn’t found, throwing command ‘antigravity.openDiffZones’ not found repeatedly.
The Go language server stays healthy and running, so the bottleneck is purely on the Electron/renderer side.
wsl.exe --list --verbose errors show up on startup since WSL isn’t installed.
Any suggestions or upcoming fixes for this? Thanks!
From your samples, the freezes look like they come from the IDE loading a very large file tree and from syntax highlighting on big files. A few things to try:
In Settings, add folders like **/node_modules, **/.git, **/dist and **/.venv to Files: Exclude and Files: Watcher Exclude, then restart.
Try opening just one project folder instead of a large parent folder, and see if the freezes stop.
Turn on Editor: Large File Optimizations, and avoid keeping very large or minified files open.
Run Help → Start Extension Bisect to check whether an extension is causing it.
Title: Antigravity IDE 2.5.5 – Agent tasks are taking significantly longer than before
Issue:
I’m using Google Antigravity IDE 2.5.5 on Apple Silicon (ARM64 / macOS).
Recently, agent tasks have become significantly slower than before. The agent spends a very long time on file searching, thinking, editing, and tool execution, even for relatively simple development tasks.
The same type of tasks were completing much faster previously.
Observed behavior:
Agent takes a long time before starting file edits.
File searching/indexing appears to take excessive time.
Tool calls sometimes remain in a loading/working state for a long time.
Simple tasks can take several minutes to complete.
Long agent conversations become increasingly slow.
Sometimes the UI appears to freeze or become unresponsive temporarily.
Restarting Antigravity does not consistently resolve the issue.
Environment:
Antigravity IDE: 2.5.5
Platform: macOS
Architecture: Apple Silicon (ARM64)
Project: Flutter/Dart
Issue started/recently became noticeable: September 2026
Could the Antigravity team please investigate whether this is related to backend/model latency, agent tool execution, file indexing/search, or capacity issues?
Please let me know if logs or diagnostic information are required. This is significantly affecting development productivity.
