I wanted to share an open-source project I’ve been building for the Google Antigravity community called BetterGravity.
Antigravity has been fantastic for agentic workflows, but I wanted to add a few power-user ergonomics, personalization features, and developer capabilities directly into the local desktop experience.
What BetterGravity adds:
- In-App Chromium Browser: Allows the agent to autonomously browse, test web applications, and inspect live DOM state side-by-side with chat.
- Revamped Gemini Workspace: Willow-inspired design system with dedicated sidebar tabs for Chat, Work, Skills, and Scheduled Tasks.
- Interactive Desktop Companions: 17+ animated pixel companions that react and code alongside your agent in real time.
- Bring Your Own Key (BYOK): Connect your own official Google AI Studio / Gemini API key directly to stream raw model reasoning & thinking tokens.
- Theme & Plugin Engine: Load custom CSS themes and local JS plugins with zero build step and hot reloading.
Architecture & Safety:
- Local-only client extension: Injects safely at startup without modifying user files, workspace repositories, or credentials.
- Fully reversible: Preserves backups of the original bundle; can be cleanly uninstalled byte-for-byte anytime.
