I recently purchased AI Credits for Google Antigravity because I intended to use them for coding agent workloads. However, after my Google AI Pro subscription expired, I found that I can no longer use the AI Credits I already own because the AI Credit Overages option is unavailable without an active Google AI Pro subscription.
This is confusing from a user perspective. AI Credits are something I have already paid for, so I expected them to remain usable until they are exhausted or expire, regardless of my current subscription status.
Currently, it feels like I have purchased credits that I cannot access unless I continue paying for a subscription.
Imagine a user purchases $100 worth of AI Credits while subscribed to Google AI Pro, uses only a small portion of them, and then lets their subscription expire. The remaining prepaid credits become effectively inaccessible unless they subscribe again. From a customer’s perspective, this feels like losing access to something they have already paid for, even though the credits themselves have not expired.
Please consider allowing purchased AI Credits to be used even when a user’s Google AI subscription has expired, or at least provide an option to manually spend existing credits without requiring an active Pro subscription.
If there are technical or policy reasons for requiring an active subscription, this should be communicated much more clearly before users purchase AI Credits.
I believe this would make the experience more transparent and align with normal expectations for prepaid credits.
