AI Studio Update: Removal of Reset Button & Project Saving — What’s the New Workflow?

Hi everyone,

After the recent Google AI Studio update, I’m trying to understand the reasoning behind some workflow changes.

Previously:

  • We had a Reset button to cleanly restart context

  • We could save/export projects and treat them like ongoing working environments

Now:

  • Reset option appears removed

  • Projects feel session-based and cannot be preserved the same way as before

Because of this, AI Studio feels less like a controllable development workspace and more like a temporary chat environment.

I’m genuinely curious about the design perspective behind this:

  • Is this due to infrastructure cost or scaling?

  • A safety/context-handling decision?

  • Encouraging migration to API/Vertex workflows?

  • Or a change in how prompts are internally versioned?

Would really appreciate clarification from the Google team and insights from the community on how you’re adapting your workflow.

Thanks :folded_hands:
