Account restricted to AQ. keys requesting AIza key restoration

Hello Google AI Developer Support Team,

My account is currently restricted to generating AQ. prefix keys in Google AI Studio, which are failing with 401 authentication errors when I try to use them with standard SDKs.

I am a student working on local coding projects and need a standard AIza key to connect to the Gemini API. Could you please review my account and restore standard key generation?

We are investigating this , Can you share which SDK, tools you are trying to access ?

I’m curious,what tools or sdk require user to supply unrestricted API key that have access to GCP services except gemini api.

We are moving away from Traffic keys (Alza) and towards a more secure Authentication Key (AQ). AI Studio will now only generate Authentication Key (AQ) keys. More information on key usage can be found in the Using Gemini API keys documentation].

Please submit any compatibility issues with services / SDKs etc. in this form for our engineering team to review. Thanks!

We have already migrated to the AQ format; the Gemini API will stop accepting standard keys with restricted access after September. I guess those who are complaining are the ones trying to use Gemini/AGY OAuth tokens for third-party apps. That’s why it is causing issues for them.
